Why? Of the five W’s, this one is downright riveting. Understanding the mechanisms behind societal changes, the driving forces underlying policy shifts, the root cause of human behavior…that’s some pretty good stuff. I could spend an entire career focused on that one little word. Figuring out the why means having the data to inform decision-making, ultimately leading to change and better outcomes. To do this, you need a team of people who are committed to producing those better outcomes, from analysts and data scientists to senior leaders willing to take risks.
I excel at leading teams of people in the business of asking why. From leading quantitative and qualitative research studies to producing analysis that has driven national security decision-making, I understand the technical requirements for research, analysis, and policy. But that’s not what makes me unique. My strength lies in those skills not immediately apparent on a resume; the ability to build teams of people from individuals, to coalesce different opinions, and to foster cohesiveness in even the most difficult environments.
