I am passionate about helping people reach their full potential with the knowledge that they matter. Having spent the last thirty years working in with the federal government, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions, I enjoy connecting people to their greatest assets whether they are personal strengths, community resources, or knowledge and skills. Currently, I am an Education Program Specialist for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition, and in this role, I administer a $10 million annual portfolio of National Professional Development grants that help to prepare teachers to meet the needs of English learners. I am responsible for interpreting policy related to the needs of English learners as well as assessing and applying regulations as necessary to advance the academic achievement of this population. Prior to this role, I was an English Language Fellow with the U.S. Department of State in Shkoder, Albania where I helped to prepare English teachers across the country. I hold a PhD in Applied Linguistics with an emphasis in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus in nonprofit management, and a Master’s in English as a Second Language.
