I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I attended Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. At Duquesne, I was selected to study in the Honors English Program, and I helped establish and operate a writing lab for the English Department. After graduating from law school, I was the law clerk for six senior judges in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. I moved on to work in the Allegheny County Prothonotary’s Office and then the private sector as a writer for Brandegee Inc.
In 1995, I began my federal career as a regulatory compliance officer in the U.S. Coast Guard’s Vessel Documentation Center. In 2004, I was hired by the FBI as an intelligence analyst working in the Intelligence Requirements and Collection Management Unit. Seeing the critical need for partnerships in my work as an intelligence analyst, I accepted a position in the Community Relations Unit in the Office of Public Affairs where we were charged with proactively developing relationships with ethnic and minority communities across the country. I helped set up and the manage the Digital Billboard Initiative that enabled the FBI to use digital billboard space offered by outdoor advertising companies across the United States, and I was chosen to be a member of Director Mueller’s Specialized Community Outreach Team (SCOT).
I became the special assistant for the deputy assistant director for analysis, the highest-ranking intelligence officer in the FBI at the time. Eventually I moved into the Intelligence Communications Unit where I am now, writing speeches, talking points, and correspondence. During my time in the unit, I was selected to serve on the 2020 FBI Presidential Transition Team and be the lead for the communications segment of that team.
In addition to my communications role, I have the collateral duties of branch policy officer, branch compliance officer, and employee assistance program peer.
I now live in Kearneysville, West Virginia west of Harpers Ferry where I live with my wife of 33 years. We have three grown children.
