About

🧠 Subject Matter Expertise: I have a PhD in Integrated Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis on Anatomy and Neurobiology. I have background training in Psychology (including quantitative methods) and Biology. I have worked extensively in academic research spanning a large variety of projects and techniques and have had broad exposure to scientific disciplines across the translational science spectrum (basic, preclinical/translational, clinical, therapeutics development).

📚 Portfolio Management: As a Health Program Specialist, I supported, tracked, and provided analysis for five combined grant portfolios totaling over 250 awards within the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and the HEAL Initiative. This required excellent organization, communication, cross-functional coordination, and analytical capabilities.

📝 Strategic Planning: I co-founded and -chaired a Postdoctoral Association. I also created and administered an annual research symposium for three consecutive years, growing the event by over 50% in that time. At NIH, I supported the HEAL Initiative through participation in multiple cross-cutting working groups to achieve program missions.

🔬Research and Analysis: I have nearly 15 years of experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and documentation, which has provided me with excellent skills in science translation and communication to a wide range of recipients, both to experts and my local community.

✍️ Writing and Editing: Writing and editing are integral to the dissemination of science. I have published peer-reviewed articles, successfully written grants, and created countless presentation materials. I have extensively copyedited over the last decade and, more recently, served as an expert peer-reviewer for scientific journals.

🍎 Education: I have taught lectures and courses for high school through graduate and professional students. Most recently, I was a summer instructor focusing on introductory neurobiology and application. Whenever possible, I enjoy including discussion and inclusion of primary literatures to enhance learning and foster application. I'm also passionate about mentorship and have successfully supervised high school students, undergraduates, graduate students, and technicians.

🤝 Engagement: I have always sought opportunities to promote community engagement with science – from volunteering at the Chattahoochee Nature Center to Brain Awareness Events and University Service. I enjoy using my skills and expertise to give back and make science a citizen enterprise.
