About
After being laid off from her job at USAID on maternity leave, Kathleen founded Pivoting Parents, which organizes family-friendly gatherings to support workers juggling caregiving and job transitions.
The grassroots network was recognized by The Washington Post and MSNBC for building community across more than 20 U.S. states and three continents. Pivoting Parents is currently seeking funding to pilot collaborative childcare options for job seekers in the DMV.
Kathleen’s career spans senior leadership roles in global health and community organizations. At USAID’s Global Health Bureau, she directed a $750M annual portfolio across 15 countries, led the deployment of over 50 million COVID-19 vaccines in East Africa, and designed high-profile convenings with ministers, U.S. officials, and multilateral leaders to strengthen international health systems.
Kathleen has been a proud Washingtonian for more than 20 years and considers the District her first true love. After receiving a scholarship to attend The George Washington University, she has continuously found professional opportunities and personal growth in the nation’s capital. She and her husband welcomed their first child – a native of Northwest Washington – last November.
