About

Experienced government professional with a demonstrated history of more than 20 years working in international affairs in strategic and challenging roles. Have worked in policy, implementation, analysis, and intelligence as both a foreign service officer and civil servant. Recognized expert in international multilateral institutions, particularly the UN.

Senior advisor on foreign policy and intelligence to senior foreign affairs leaders, including US Cabinet and sub-Cabinet officials. Proven record of working with senior officials from all political parties and from various international governance systems in the UN system. Significant experience in multilateral international negotiations on WMD at the US Mission to the UN in New York, and in Geneva as part of the Delegation to the Conference on Disarmament. Expert on building multilateral coalitions and achieving consensus on topics seemingly impossible to do so on from the outset, on WMD and security topics, including peacekeeping. Not satisfied working on simple and straightforward issues.

Range of experiences taking challenges with no clear answer to a place with defined goals and success. Recognized communicator, briefer, and writer, with a knack of communicating to audiences of various knowledge depths and awareness of issues. Comfortable and experienced briefing Presidents, Secretaries, and policy decision makers on the toughest issues, often managing complex and divergent storylines that do not follow logical timelines.

Former manager of diverse and unique teams of professionals, ranging from junior to senior, of up to 22 people. Experienced manager of government contractors. Also experienced in cutting budgets and reforming support structures, even in the face of resistance from those saying “things have to be this way.” I would love to share my story of saving the US Government millions of dollars, instead of unnecessarily continuing a program, including the change management and messaging strategy related to it across multiple government agencies and departments.

Skilled leader of Nonprofit Organizations, including as national 30 member board chair of my alma mater’s alumni association, and in Media Relations, International Relations, and Fundraising. Strong community member with a Master of Science focused in Peace Operations Policy from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts In Communication/Public Relations from East Carolina University.
