VP Policy @Center for Democracy & Tech | Fmr DOJ and NSC

I am the Vice President of Policy at the Center for Democracy & Technology, where I lead its policy teams advocating for technology policy and governance that promotes civil liberties, civil rights, and democratic values. Previously I had 25 years of experience in senior roles in government and private practice working at the forefront of technology law and policy. I served as Associate Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice and as Senior Director for Cybersecurity Policy for the National Security Council at the White House. In those roles, I helped lead the development of national cybersecurity strategy and coordinated development of policy in areas such as cyber incident response, defense of critical infrastructure, encryption, and electronic surveillance. As a partner at two international law firms, I focused on cybersecurity and privacy, content moderation and intermediary liability, regulation of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, and tech-related litigation and investigations.
